Battle for Yonkers

A few folk have already written how this year is shaping up for some chock_full_of_explosions blockbuster movies. I am of course keen for Terminator:Salvation to see Christian Bale’s John Connor deliver some righteous sentient machine butt kicking.

However next year holds the possibility of further cinematic awesomeness with Max Brooks ‘World War Z’ movie  being screenplayed by Babylon 5’s J. Michael Straczynski and directed by Quantum of Solace’s Marc Forster.

Which bodes well for the quality of the story, but what about what we can see up there on the big screen, or massive screen  if you plan to see it in IMAX as I do. Artist Daniel LuVisi  has posted some of the tryout work he did to get a gig on the production team and it looks …

OUTFRAKINGSTANDING.

Its the picture I use in the headspace display at the top of my blogg.

Its titled ‘The Battle for Yonkers’.  Those of you who read the book know it to be a vital turning point in the narrative. Those of you who haven’t read the book, …I ‘m very dissapointed.

This is the battle where the military faced the Zombie horde in a large scale set piece and got their helmets handed to them. Its a great sequence and absolutly crutial to the success of the film.

I think if Mr LuVisi gets a guernsey then we are in very good hands.

  1. That slideshopw is impressive. The Zed look is very very good.

  2. I am sorry I have disappointed you, I will make an effort to get ahold of and read World War Z.

  3. …not convinced by Strac as a screenwriter. Babylon 5 had some strengths, but scripting was not amongst them, on the whole.

  4. I loved the revisitation to Line drills with .22’s..Good old Fashioned Volley Fire, but Continuous mmmmmm.

Naut: Do get it, its a GREAT READ.
